Energy efficient homes

According to a recent report from the Australian Council of Social Service and the Brotherhood of St Laurence, Government policies should drive higher energy efficiency standards. For existing housing stock, this could deliver electricity bill savings for Australian households; Saving may go from $289 for apartments up to $1,139 for houses.

Nevertheless, very little action was taken, so far, by either federal or state governments. “It’s bewildering that we keep talking about energy efficiency, and governments agree that it’s common sense, but do nothing about it,” said ACOSS Senior Energy Advisor Kellie Caught.
